5.28 the "Day of Indignity"

Prime Minister Hatoyama made a statement that the U.S. and Japan "agreed upon" relocation of Futenma Air Station to Henoko Bay, Nago City, in the U.S.- Japan Joint Statement on May 28th. He had a speech on the government plan at the press conference at 9pm, Japan time on the day.

His whole speech was aired.

It was the day of indignity for the people of Okinawa.

Japan and the U.S. again, and continuously, sacrifice the lives of Okinawans for their benefit.

But we, Okinawans, will never let them do that.
We will seek for all the possibility to close Futenma and stop new base construction

...for our future, for our dignity.
